About Albion

Nearly two centuries, one habit: plain dealing

Albion Bank Group started as a single counter in 1834. The branches, the app and the rates have changed since — the habit of telling customers the truth in plain figures hasn't.

Our story

How we got here

1834

First counter opens

A single branch opens to serve local tradespeople who had nowhere reliable to keep their takings overnight.

1911

National expansion

Albion reaches 100 branches, adopting the shield mark still used on our buildings today.

1968

First personal loans

Albion introduces fixed-term personal loans with the repayment schedule printed in full, not summarised.

2009

Mobile banking launches

Customers can check a balance and move money from a phone for the first time.

Today

4.2 million customers

Personal, business and corporate customers bank with Albion across 190+ branches and the app.

What we stand for

Three principles that shape every product

Say the number

Rates, fees and repayment figures are shown in full wherever a decision depends on them.

Keep a person reachable

Every product has a phone line or branch counter behind it, staffed by someone who can act.

Protect the account, not just the login

Fraud monitoring runs continuously, and we tell customers directly when something looks wrong.

Leadership

Run by bankers, held to account by everyone else

Albion Bank Group is led by an executive team with backgrounds across retail, business and mortgage lending, overseen by an independent board and, in the real world, the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority.
